Creating Summer
Timing is Everything

Sneak Peak!

This is the weirdest morning: I had gone  to bed around 12:45 am. At 5:00 am, my eyes popped open, and I had a jittery surge of adrenaline. I have no idea what caused it. At first, I thought, "Awesome! I can get lots of work done!" So I went downstairs and tried to work on an article with a looming due date. But whatever adrenaline I thought I had was not the productive kind; I couldn't concentrate on a thing. So I turned to Netflix to continue my, "I can't sleep, so let me veg" fix: The Vampire Diaries. I never watched the series, but since I was sick about a month ago, it has become my middle of the night fix when I can't sleep. By the way, if someone can tell me why I keep watching this show, I'd appreciate it. I'm in the middle of season two, and although I nitpick it to pieces, I continue watching it. You know, sort of like when you get your hands on a bowl of chips, they're really not that great--but you keep mindlessly eating them anyway?

Eventually, I came to the realization that today is Monday, and I promised I would do the cover reveal for Book Two of the Based on a Dream series--the next book in line after Treehugger. While I'm still weighing my options on the launch date, it will be this fall. I'm so excited about it, because this summer has been all about Star, CK, and Leada--as well as some new characters--and I've enjoyed every minute of it. The only problem is that, as a direct result of watching The Vampire Diaries, one of the new characters has started to look like Ian Somerhalder in my head. While anyone who knows who I'm talking about would not consider that a bad thing, it is sort of distracting--in a bad and good way. This character has looked the same in my head for years, so sometimes I wind up thinking, "Who the hell are you?" as I work. After the launch, when new characters are revealed, I'll share who he really looks like to me. Of course, you're free to keep Ian in your head if that's what makes you happy!

Anyway, here is the cover and title. Thanks so much to my cover artist, Julie Fain!

Hmm ... wonder who that is on the cover with Star?
